Nokia is changing its marketing strategy

Nokia is adopting a new marketing strategy, reports the Financial Times. This is not surprising with the poor year on year results which meant that Samsung overtook Nokia in total mobile sales worldwide.

Based on this report, 'Nokia is in "exploratory" talks with several European carriers to share revenue for its upcoming Windows Phone 8 handsets in exchange for dedicated support.' In other words, Nokia is doing what Apple did in 2007 for its iPhone.

It was only last week that Nokia reduced the price of its Lumia 800 in the States to boost its slow sale. Can this new strategy help create the excitement for WP8 that Nokia so badly needs? After all, Nokia is the first to offer Windows Phone 8 handsets to long waiting customers. Only time can tell.
